ABOUT THE GALLERY
......................................................................................................................................................................................................

STAND ALONE GALLERY was created to provide an exhibition space,
primarily for emerging artists, which can be easily transportable,
transformable and continuously adaptable. In this form of a transient
non-space, many more opportunities of creative divergence can emerge
to remold the traditional view of the gallery space. The hope is to challenge
artists and patrons to merge indivisibly into the experience of an art exhibition.

GALLERY CONSTRUCTION

The gallery has undergone significant change in construction methodology.
The concept for the space is designed to grow and change with the needs
of each artist and unique exhibition. In the past the mimicry of an interior
space in a cube has been the preferred shape. As the time goes on the
shape will move further away from a traditional space. Organic materials
are paramount to retain structural stability while taking into account
affordability and accessibility to resources.

THE DIRECTOR

Daniel Quinn is the Founder and Director of Stand Alone Gallery since
its inception in 2007. He has received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from
Savannah College of Art and Design.

While studying photography and printmaking in Savannah, GA, he saw the
need for alternative exhibition space among his colleagues. Though starting
on a small scale, curating group shows in several apartments he quickly
gained access to an empty warehouse, which proved to be huge success.
From that show he gained a position with a non-profit gallery, DeSoto Row,
until graduation and relocation. After a move to Atlanta, GA, Daniel was able
to construct the first prototype for Stand Alone Gallery a modular mobile space.
The first group exhibitions were held in Atlanta’s Arts District, Castleberry Hill.
After moving to New York City, he found many opportunities to exhibit with
various artists including printmakers, performers, photographers and installation
artists. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
